If you have not tracked the health of your motor using oil analysis I would highly recomment it! I do it on all our cars and helps me figure out how often I really need to change oil and if the oils I'm using are really dong thier job.

Attached is the analysis I've been running on the 998. According to them the bike is 'just getting better and better'. If you have never checked out what they will tell you (the comments I get on them are really very helpful, IMHO).

So, I'm pretty stoked. Nearly 18,000 basically trouble free miles and they say the motor is getting healier and healthier! It feels like it might be running a tad on the rich side and I guess the oil is saying the same thing. Or perhaps it was just because I'd idled it up to temp instead of actually riding it (damn worn out rear tire).

I'm almost looking forward to the next oil change so I can get some more good news.. hahahahah :)

Blackstone Labs. Contact info is at the bottom of that report I posted. They charge $20 per if you do singles. You can save a few bucks if you do a bulk-buy on the processing orders.

You can call them and they will send you a free kit (or two) and you send in ther sample and a check for $20 and viola. First one you get is digital and hardcopy, and fater that they send it in PDF form but you can also have them send the hardcopy version by snailmail.

Last time I had the report in my e-mailbox within 3 days of me dropping the sample off at the post office. Cost about $1.60 to mail it standard mail. No problems shipping oil samples properly packaged. It's the hardest part is getting the oil drain plug removed. :)
