This raffle is void where prohibited by law. Anyone know if this means the raffle is only open to California residents? Some how I think this would be hard to sneak back into Canada in the back of my pickup.

Terms and Conditions
The winner is responsible for all other costs associated with the purchase and award of the prize, including sales or luxury tax, license and registration fees, if applicable. The prize will not be delivered until after all of the applied taxes, license and registration fees are paid by the winner. This raffle is void where prohibited by law. The IRS position is that amounts paid for chances in raffles, lotteries and drawings for valuable prizes are not gifts, and consequently do not qualify as deductible contributions. A drawing ticket may be obtained at no charge at the Los Feliz Charter School for the Arts.

All faxes, mailers, phone calls must be received (and tickets picked up at Pro Italia) by 3PM PDT on Thursday, July 22, 2010. We will be issuing only 2500 tickets, each to be sold for only $40 with the drawing to be held on July 24, 2010 at the world famous Laguna Seca MotoGP race. We look forward to giving the keys to this incredible motorcycle to one of you!

Oh man, that would be killer! I was very tempted, but the taxes would be almost as much as the 696 I have. But still...

Hmmm...
1) So, I have to drive/fly/etc. to Pro Italia to get the tickets, and
2) Do I have to be present at the drawing to claim, if i win that is?

1) Buy over the phone.

2) Terms say winner does not need to be present.

did you calculate the odds? what if you spent $200 on lottery tickets, would you have a better or worse chance of winning $60,000 (which is what I think you can probably buy one of these for)?

Well they are selling 2500 tickets. So if you buy five you have a 1/500 or .2% chance to win. Pretty long odds, but much better than the lottery. And it is for a cause I'm happy to support.

I don't expect to win...and frankly I'd never spend 60k on a D16--if I had that kind of money to play with I'd be trying to find a 1974 750SS.

On the other hand...

To hell with the odds. I'm totally giving them $40. Because if I could afford to donate a $70k motorcycle to a school raffle, I would do it. Talk about karma points...the guy donating the bike gets 'em, us morons get 'em for giving $40 to a good cause we have practically no contact with, and if you by some small chance win...karma points to me for only charging you guys a buck for a minute alone to rub yer whatever on my DR16! :happy57:

You guys might as well not even bother, I was flirting with the rep on the phone and she promised to sell me the winning ticket. I'll let you ride it though.
