I was thinking of going on a long fun ride to Portland. Instead of that short awful boring I-5. I came up with this Route. Any good places to stop by and see on the way down. I am going to get surgery on my wrist so this might be my last ride for a while. Leaving this Friday so I should be able to make it to bike night.

I haven't been down 161 and 7, but have taken the road down the east side of Mt. St. Helen's. I usually take 410 to 123 to 12 to 131 then it turns into FS25 I believe. Been a few years since I have ridden it. When I did, I remember mossy shoulder's (read as edge of asphalt, no white line) on FS25. Just keep clear of the edge of the road and you will be fine. I love this route. Last time I attempted to take this road was two years ago when I rode to SLC for WSBK. In May the road is still closed, didn't see the sign...got to snow, turned around and went 12 to 97 down in to Oregon. July should be no problem with snow!!! Have a great ride.

I've done that route, its a great ride except for the straight suburban strip mall traffic lights part south of Puyallup.

I haven't taken the route from Seattle to PDX but I ride a big chunk of that route when I had up towards Windy Ridge from here in Vancouver. You'll like the roads. Nothing to complain about really.

I made some changes you may want to incorporate into your route, most of the changes don't add much to your riding time but eliminates the slog thru Puyallup. The Hwy 14 addition does add about an hour so you can take that out if you find yourself getting tired by then. These roads are spectacular and you will have fun!

Very nice :thumbup::thumbup:. Seems like this way has more scenery. When I get down to Washougal I will go on a ride around 14 and Salmon rd. Wife's great grandma lives right off of canyon creek and mount pleasant rd. She's not doing so well so my wife and son are visiting her till Monday.

Well I ended up going this route but with the family and a car load. We stayed at Swift forest campground. On the way to camp someone in a modified 998ish passed us like we were standing still. This guy had sliders on his balls because they were so big. If you have ever driven on 90 towards cougar that road is so bumpy and rough. I tried catching him with the Gli, but good old Jetta decided that it doesn't like taking right turns. I had a "low oil pressure" come on every hard right. Eventually the service light came on and said refer to the owners manual. Owners manual said to pull over and DO NOT DRIVE. I ignored it because oil was fine and I hate Volkswagen now. They are worst than Ducati's when it comes to random problems. We stopped by Ape Cave and did the lava tubes both upper and lower. We also tried to do most of the side chutes. 8 hours total in a pitch black cave. here are some pics of the caves. I need a new camera now because it was dropped and now full of sand. Okay well headed back down to Washougal for a funeral.Will not be attending this weeks bike night, but I am taking a long way(Also got my license back long story, stupid Oregon). Long way to camp swift for a few days, till the funeral on Friday morning.
