Well, for those stuck working..

I'm heading out for a long weekend, only overnighter this year ( others fell through).
You can follow along, online anyway.
Check my 'Spot' page and see where I am.
Hope to be the road about 6am.

OK, maybe this isn't a DNW group ride, but I know I like hearing about others' rides.
I'll have my iPad along, I'll post a few pics if I get a chance.
Dang, the Multi feels like a barge compared to the 300 smoker!

I will be nice to see the sun rise from the saddle again.

Didn't see any activity on the thread, so I wasn't sure anyone wanted to hear more...

Great trip, I headed out at 6am to meet up at North Bend with the other guys.
I actually got there right on time, great being out on the road and watching the sun come up! Of course my heated gear got a workout- but since I'm such a sissy that doesn't mean much. Others probably wouldn't have bothered.
Not a lot of traffic around Tacoma (I went through Bremerton, then Auburn/Hwy18).

Took 90 to Cle Elum and backroads to Yakima River road.
Stopped at one point and I noticed my bike leaning more than usual. Seems the bolt holding the sidestand was loose. Well...a bit closer inspection revealed the front lower bolt for the footpeg mount that also holds the rear sidestand mount had come loose at some point- and the bolt itself was stripped. I took the rear one and mounted it in the front, the case threads were fine.
Checked at a hardware stare to find something for the rear, they didn't have any metric coarse threaded bolts, but I micky moused something that allowed it to keep working ok. I even locktited that bolt, but it came loose anyway.

On toward the Mabton Bickleton Hwy- at exactly the speed limit of course. Lunch at Goldendale, then a fairly direct route to Maupin (a few backroads of course).

Some of us stayed at the Deschutes Motel, others at the Imperial River Co.
Next morning up Bakeoven (I seem to recall a black 4-cylinder bike going by rather quickly- but hard to see). Then Shaniko, Antelope, Fossil. A new backroad Jim & I were trying to find last year (but missed it somehow) and none of us had been on. Great road! Well...I thought so anyway. A bit bumpy in some places and a little fairly recent chip/seal at the beginning. But a great alternative.
Then a stop at Mitchell (the bear is gone, but still fuel available) for lunch, off to Painted Hills to take a few picks and ride a bit of gravel (not very far, but have to ride *some* gravel in Oregon).
Back toward Maupin via Spray. It was getting a bit late and I forgot my clear shield that day- so it was back across Antelope hwy. Pretty neat the other way. I slowed way down since it looked too cool and had to check it out. At that point three guys went the other way, one on a red Multi then a grey and a black bike. Marv was out riding in the same area, saw the same guys and thought it was us.
J
Next day up to the Dalles, then across the river- up the Klickitat, then to Trout lake. Great roads! After that some killer FS roads that were fantastic!
FS 23, FS 90, FS 25.
I bailed off for home at Randle, it was already 3pm and I had over 3 hours to ride and it was a bit wet.
Great weather before that (a bit warm in the afternoon).

I did just under 1200 miles and got in some great roads and great time with buddies.

It was indeed a fantastic riding weekend ride. Great weather, great roads, beautiful country, good buds..what's not to like? So nice to get away....and there was virtually on the roads down in the Oregon playland..

we had a wonderful encounter with some of the local wildlife on the Bickleton side of the Mabton Bickleton Highway.

MthElJAnkk8

as well as a ride up 142 from Lyle to Klickitat

ufoNUfkMaPk

and along the Glenwood Highway

WUBYp86Hwos

Sure was fun riding along with such a talented group of riders not to mention a nice bunch of guys who patiently waited for me every 30 miles or so :p

Scott gave the new multi a real workout on the Antelope Highway removing any signs of chicken strips for the Pilot Road 2's while I road at a tourist pace most of the time enjoying the breathtaking scenery in that area.

I've never been along the Trout Lake area before, absolutely amazing roads and scenery. A return trip is a must as soon as the weather permits.
