the relationship with AMG (its now a patch on their uniforms) seems too weird for my simple mind. Is watching an Italian Ducati winning going to make me go buy a German Mercedes?

no, but it may drive Mercedes owners to buy a Diaval.

Just curious, how many bikes on the grid are yellow? And of those how many have made it to the podium? Just saying .... :happy57: :stirthepot:

The yellow hat, gloves, and helmet look just plain awful with the red ducati leathers. I guess money rules all. It will make it easier for me to root for Nicky and Ben.

That is ugly with the yellow...but we all knew Rossi wasn't going to drop it. It's his trademark.

Frontal area looks substancially taller, should pay top speed dividends.

This appears to be the same bodywork:

Interesting.......it appears the leathers are over-the-boot design.

I wish they put the money they spent on that video into something a lot more useful. What a waste of money. They couldn't just shoot some nice pictures at the factory?

Do you mean color or shape? I like Nicky's bike well enough.

Anyone with physics/fluid dynamics knowledge able to explain why the bike is so blunt? It seems to my uneducated eye that it isn't aerodynamically efficient. Seems to smash through air instead of piercing it. Does this blunt style nose groom the air better for a tucked rider resulting in less drag overall? Am I just not seeing that the nose is actually angled a good bit?

Or put it into a WSBK team?

For $20, I would have been happy to photoshop the bikes on top of any mt, or on to any island they wanted!!

I think its more of a boondoggle, so the exec's can expense a free vacation.

It's a bit different, but it'll suddenly look a lot better crossing the finish line in 1st. Like Bong pointed out, that's what counts. Ducati appear to have spent considerable time with wind tunnel testing and aerodynamic modeling.

Insisting on the yellow says alot about his ego. I don't think Ben or Baylis would be so insecure about their fame and image that they would trash a red and white bike with yellow. I hope Ben and Nicky embarass him this year.

:rofl

That's a bit over the top IMO. I don't think it has anything to do with insecurity...ego maybe, but any successful pro racer has a healthy ego. Rossi has all sorts of things that he's particular about, such as him hand applying his stickers before every race, the sun on his helmet, the saying on his neck closure strap. It's just him.

I think you just maybe aren't a Rossi fan. :cool2:

I'd like to see Nicky beat him and everyone else as well...not Ben though...at least not consistently. I still like seeing the Duc win.

Yellow is the color of his brand, and that brand probably measures respectably against Ducati's. Then there's also the psychology of color to factor. As for ego, any top level competitor has one, some conceal it better than others. You have to think you're pretty damn good to have enough confidence to push the envelope in any given sport, especially one that can end your life in the blink of an eye. IMHO of course. :)

sure some would be happy enough with a snap shot but going into the new season maintaining traditions (popular with Italians) and flexing ones marketing and financial muscle for both Ferrari and Ducati does wonders to the competitions psyche
