I am going to post anything and everything about this trip you folks helped me get to Indy in this thread.

My 20 year old son Jeff and I fly out late thursday aug 25, and back the day after the races, monday. DNA got us rooms at the Hyatt Regancy, so that seems pretty nice.

They are running the 125, Moto2, and the MotoGp races, as well as AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200.

We have seats from DNA in the Ducati bleachers (inside the track, red star), which is good for views of turns 2,3,4, but for Sunday, I bought a set of tickets for the very top row just opposite on the outside (blue star), which will give us views of turns 1,2,3,4,5,6, and maybe a few more.

Tomorrow I have to drop off the bike at EMS to be shipped to Indy. I don't think I have much chance of winning the trip to Italy against the other 3 bikes, esp the $50k one, but I did decide to add a little more bling.
I got the front exhaust pipe and the can hangers ceramic coated, and I changed the bars to these new Woodcraft semi-clip ons. The bars are just a tad lower and a tad more forward, which gives it a somewhat better track riding position. a few pics here:

why didn't you coat the rear header too?

If you look close on the profile picture of the bike you can see the kick stand was photo-shopped out...

Yes, we can change the bikes up to Aug 25. The rear pipes are a royal pain in the butt to remove, plus they have the butterfly low end torque valve thing which I didn't want getting screwed up, and they don't really show much at all in real life. That photo corresponds to getting down on your knees to look at the bike. When you stand and look at it, the crap under the swingarm barely shows.

That is so cute the way his wheels on the bike match the wheels on his tow vehicle. He also found matching outfits for all his eyecandy posers. He probably has matching glad rags in the trailer as well.

You should've put a couple of heat cycles on the tires from the track or something to show the poserific guys what these bikes really were designed for. Or reinstalled one of your used track tires back on that bike.
I shouldn't assume, but you're probably the better rider of all the guys in that contest.

Worn down track tires would probably appeal to more people on your bike, than the others farkelistic bikes. *shrug*

Aye, he's got tattoo's on his knuckles. That validates that he's a bad mofo... *rolleyes*

I guess I'm in the minority, but I like the "$50K" bike. Sure, the rear tire and swingarm are a bit over the top, but it's a Monster build off, and he obviously spent a bunch of time on it. Regardless of the style, it looks like he did a nice job on it. It's a different thing than someone just bolting on parts from a catalog.

I also think Kurt's bike is very nice...I'm just not sure why everyone is bagging on the other bike. It's Ok to like them both.

FYI...this bike won the first ever Monster Challenge. Nothing bolt-on about it.

You may be right Jeremy. :)
But $50K is way, way over the top. For that money, I would've bought a Desmosedici. Isn't this event a Ducati sponsored event tho? To me, that would mean to try and stay as true to what the "Ducati Monster" is, and not someone's rendition of what he thinks the "Ducati Monster" should be. Just my opinion. He would probably be well justified if this was a all manufacturer encompasing, all types and models, anything goes type of contest. *shrug*

What Kurt did to his, is hands down, what Ducati should be manufacturing as a EVO version of the model. Everything...from soup to nuts. On the other hand, Ducati should NEVER build anything like that $50K bike. That thing is all bling, and no sting. Kurts is all sting, and an equal and proportionate amount of bling. And well to me, that's what this contest is about. About people coming in, showing what they feel would make that model bike, perfect for what that model bike was designed to do.

Fact is, the Monster was never made to push around 85lbs of custom wheels. On the contrary...

ducati
08-24-2011, 10:58 AM
And I still stand by my statement. Kurts bike would scream volumes, had he reinstalled his worn down, heat cycled tires, from when he tracked that bike. I bet that alone is something that the other bikes never even seen.

And therefore, I bet those other bikes cry at night, while Kurts bike, sits and smirks at em'. :action027

ducati
08-24-2011, 11:05 AM
Going back and looking again, I still vote Kurts is best. And not because I've met him before, or because he's "the local guy" bs. It just flat out is the bike to beat. HIS set the precedence that the others must try to beat. Hell, if Kurt had owned that $50K bike and the other Knuckle dragger had Kurts bike, I'd still vote for that bike, hands down.

That thing is just bad ass! A job well thought out, and well done. She just screams "RIDE ME!".

Choose the image button from the toolbar, choose "from url", paste the url of the photo into the box (make sure it has a .jpg or other picture file extension), then uncheck the box which says "retrieve remote file...".

That box being checked is what makes only a thumbnail show up on the forum.

So I looked at the picture and studied each bike for a little bit. While each bike has details I really think are nice, I still think Kurt has the better bike of the bunch. All the mods are subtle and tasteful.

I think the tail section on the bike directly across from Kurt's bike is pretty nice, and I like the black wheels with red stripes (might be slightly bias there because I have the same style on my bike). I think those wheels on Kurt's Monster would look awesome!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, best of luck to you Kurt! IMHO you have the better bike of the bunch!

Been too busy to do serious posts, when I get back I'll post more.

Those pics were from a small handheld that Arrick shot, can't wait to see the pro's shots with fancy lighting, etc.

I was wearing a DWN shirt ... when the pro shot's come out, esp the individual shots, you should be able to read "DESMO NORTHWEST" letters on it.
