So I have made up my mind 100% to sell my 2005 749s.
Reason for selling:
Change of priorities. I don't want a superbike on the street anymore, and I have decided to do the novice WMRRA season next year, which requires money. I can't afford to race and possibly crash a $16,000 bike - rather race/crash my $3000 R6 :)
Note: This bike has never been on the track.
The Bike:
2005 Ducati 749s in red. Bought January 2005 from Eastside Motosports.
2300 miles
600 mile service completed
Exhausts fully covered with heat wrap
Swingarm spools
All original paperwork and bills
New rear tire at 600 miles (original got a puncture)
5.5 years left of a 6 year total warranty - 2 year manufacturer and 4 year extended (I paid to extend the original warranty another 4 years for total peace of mind!)
When I bought the bike I intended to keep it for a long time, which is why it has been looked after and why I bought the extended transferable warranty (which I doubt you will find on any other bikes). The bike has never spent a night outside of my garage. This is the bike to have if you want a 749 - it is already broken in (by the book), already has the first service completed and has almost 3 times the warranty you will get on a new bike - saving you well over $1200 and the frustration of shifting at 6000 revs :D Oh, it has tabs until next January too.
No test rides - this is basically a new bike, and rides like a new bike! I can email pictures if you want them, or just come and look if you are serious.

I'll still hang around - like the sort of bad rash people get which seems to show up at regular intervals and spreads easily to friends....
Once I have done my novice season I may well get a 748 for racing. Maybe a Monster will be in my street riding future again. And I hope I'll still be welcome under the DesmoNorthwest tent at trackdays :D

Have you thought about upping your schedule to start your WMRRA novice pursuits to this summer  It may be full, but WMRRA has their novice classroom session next month in July, with the track session in August. Just $150 for the two days. I was considering it, but the race-prep of my bike was too much. Like you, I'll do it when, and if, I have a dedicated :happy44: track-bike.

Checked WMRRA website and registration is closed for the July session. I am happy doing trackdays this year though - need to get to know some of the tracks :)
Bong - Thanks mate! Hope to make it to Spokane on the 30th!
Leo - You have the perfect street bike, and if you want to try a superbike on the track, I'll let you out on mine at the Ducati track day (no its not a Ducati, but its got some poke.....)

I am sure it has a LOT of poke. An R6?! I can't even imagine what would happen when I am on that thing. It may take off...

Andy,
I am sure that was a tough decision. Anytime you need the use of a canopy let me know. I hope to hook up again at another track day.
Good luck with racing and keep us posted on your results. Hopefully there are many umbrella girls in your future.

You won't be the only bad apple hanging around here with just a Yamaha.

Thanks Rod - the decision makes sense to me for so many reasons that I feel pretty confident it is the right thing to do. It will be sad not walking in to the garage and seeing the beauty sitting there, and missing the occassional group ride, but I think I'll enjoy the track side of it a lot more. I'll ping you when I book my next trackday - almost definitely Spokane.
Charon - I am modelling myself on you - seems we went the same way: Monster > Ducati Superbike > Yamaha - different reasons but same result ;) The group of people here are great so I'll not be migrating elsewhere.

Leo, regarding the "poke" of a R6.... Even with my size on my girlfriend's R6, I can lift the front wheel. It's a fun, fast little bike.

Andy,
We have the Spokane track on 8/19 if you want to put in some extra laps. I am heading over with a bunch of guys I usually ride with. There is usually about fifteen to twenty riders and I think it was about $130 last time.
Let me know if your interested and I will get you put on the list.

Hey Rod - that looks like an excellent idea! However, looks like a friend will be getting me in to the novice race series this year to get my expert license, and the track day for getting novice license is on August 13th (not sure where - maybe Spokane). Not sure about Spokane on the 30th - suppose I have been leaving it a bit late, but I'll see what happens when I get confirmed on the novice series. If I don't get confirmed on the novice series, I'll definitely be up for 8/19! I'll let you know.
Cheers,
Andy

I am putting the word out on the bike. I was talking to a neighbor of Brian's yesterday about it after he mentioned that he was looking for a Ducati. He took mine for a quick spin and another of Brian's neighbors 996 for a spin.
He is definitely looking at buying a bike (Ducati) and I told him about yours. He was going to talk it over with his wife. I told him that might not be the best of ideas, it would probably be better to just surprise her with it. I don't think he was sold on my logic. He was going to check this week so I will let you know.
No time line on Spokane so just let me know.

Hey Bill,
yes it is I, Patbastard from RC. I have a bike (2004 ST4S) but am looking for a super bike for fun. Even though I like the new Kawi 636's I have been converted to Ducati so I am looking along that line. I also came into a suzuki intruder for cheap that the wife is going to learn on so we can go riding together. She wants the ST but she has to learn first. :)

Right on Patbastard! Welcome. ST4 is an awesome ride. I still have mine. Bridget is riding a Monster 620 now and loves it. This is a great forum and group of people that make up the club. I PM'd you w/contact info. Give me call sometime.

OMG. Those 636's are so much fun! My wife has one and I gotta be honest I have a hard time deciding if I take the 998 or the 636 for a thrash (recently I've taken both out on the same day the same run and I love em both for different reasons).
Somethin so fun about hitting 15,500 on the little Kwak's tach seeing the shift light come on and banging the next gear out of a corner. OH.. man.. and sooooooo light. But no off-the bottom torque at all (you better have some good entry speed if you want good exit speed - there the Duc really helps my chicken-shit entry speeds cause one thing I don't mind is stabing that thing wide-open on a corner exit.
At any rate.. 749S is a sweet ride no doubt. If I had the dought I'd add it to the fleet but I think the MV 750 will have to come first (if ever).
