There has been much talk amongst a few of us over the past year about putting together a Ducati calendar using local bikes. Well, the idea is now officially in motion.
Shooting will begin in late July, with an anticipated release date of mid-November. This will be used as a fund raiser for the DOC, and will contain 12 member bikes. Local modelling talent is being recruited for inclusion in the shots.
We are looking for the following bikes:

Red 999
Red 748
Monster Dark
749 Dark
749 Red/Yellow
ST2
S4R
Supersport
996 Monster
Multistrada
916/996/998
749R

If you would like your bike considered, please submit pics to Leo (leo@desmonorthwest.com).
Bikes in the calendar should be clean (no dump marks), have little to no aftermarket stickers if possible, and you must sign a release if your bike is chosen. Expect each shoot to take a minimum of 1 day. Each owner will be permitted to attend the shoot, but please do not bring anyone else with you.
We will inform you with ample notice the date and location of the shoot if your bike is selected.
The deadline to submit your pictures is Saturday, July 17. Selections will be announced by Saturday July 24.
Please join us in ensuring this annual event is a success our first time around!

I have an award winning 2000 Ducati 748S Monoposto superbike. Leo the pictures are in my gallery if you want to look at them. It is a nice clean bike. Let me know if you want to use it in the shoot. Please no jewelry on the tank though. :p

We have 10 models listed - that leaves 2 open spots unless something drastic has changed.
If your bike(s) fits the bill, send in some good clean shots as requested.
Let's see what you've got!

I'd suggest getting some shots of that 749R at Duc Seattle as one of the 749 shots...

And I second the notion to have a 916/996/998 in there as well.

Of course I too think the 998 should be well represented in the calendar.. :)

The idea of shooting the 749R is great, however it said it was sold so I think it will be leaving the store soon (I would think). No idea who bought it but we'd have to talk to them to shoot pics of it.

Due to popular demand, the list is now 12, including the requested model.
I spoke with Dave R and yes the 749R is sold and he will contact the new owner for his permission to use it

Do you already have the Supersport slot filled? If not, I wouldn't mind at all making mine available. I am the owner of the "Purple Beasty" (Darkduc) that was at the Ducati Seattle Dyno day affair. :)

Your bike should be considered but we'll have to do some creative angles to hide all those stickers on your windscreen! :)

Ok this can turn into a very heated subject with little effort. In an attempt to even things out may I suggest submissions in these classes:
1. Air cooled Monsters
2. Water cooled Monsters or creations that look like w/c Monsters
3. SS
4. ST
5. MTS
6. 74X SBK
7. 9XX SBK
8. Vintage twin (incl any pre 916)
9. Vintage single
10. Race bike
11. Limited Editions (under 500 produced)
12. Best Paint ?

did I forget someone ?? I knew it would be risky making this list....

We now have the following bikes secured:

supersport
999
foggy monster
749 dark(s)
S4R
998 monster
749R (we hope)
the remainder needs to be filled. Please respond so we can see your bike in glorious print!

Well if i was in the running i would be willing to scrape them all off, except for the Base sticker, i need that to get to work. but everything else can be taken care of, wouldnt want to put any undue stress on the photographer, or the model for that matter. ;)

I may have my '02 Red 748 back on tour before the shoot. I believe I now have all the nuts and bolts necessary. I should be able to get it re-painted while on vacation.

Then there's always the yellow 748 goodness from the eastside... AND its a good excuse to ride over eh?

Lots of calenders are 14 to 16 months... that might make some room for a 916.

Torben
06-23-2004, 12:03 PM
OK this is going to be fun :D
How about this, if you want your bike considered, send in pics as requested. If we can get pics from all classes as requested then cool, if not we'll pick the best 12 of the bunch. How's that? Seem fair?

Good point. I agree. Well, I'd love to include a 916 in the calendar. Is there a good candidate available?

If there are a ton of submissions, you can always include extra photos in the layout. DML (www.ducatimonster.org, downloads section) have made a couple calendars this way that came out nice.

Torben
06-25-2004, 07:20 PM
Keep em coming folks. Still some spots left open and we want to make sure we get all of you who are interested in participating considered.
If you know of someone who owns a Duc who may want to help but isn't a member (for some weird reason :D) feel free to pass on the information.

You could have your bike in print!

Need to revive this thread.

We are still looking for a Supersport for the line up! I think I remember someone submitting a yellow SS, but somehow I can't find the image! Could you send it again, please? I am very sorry, my bad. I think I lost it when we were still figuring out about the mailbox system. :( Sorry...

We already have the models and concept lined up; and yes, you would LOVE to have them near your bike. Jeff can attest to it.

And 996, 916 submissions, please? Send pictures to me leo@desmonorthwest.com

I have the Monster S4 "Viper" that Duc-Sea built in '02 and which, arguably, was the inspiration for the S4R blue/white paint scheme that Ducati introduced. Pretty bike, very very slow (that's because I ride it and I'm too old to be doing this stuff). If you can't get an S4R - which isn't as pretty as mine (my humble opinion) let me know. Actually it might be interesting to shoot both Dave R's 996 Monster and my S4 together since both seemed to be the inspiration (Ducati will deny it) for their new Monster S4R.

Just a thought. I am, after all, a cheap puke and looking for some way to get a free calendar.

Do you have the 998's covered yet? I have one of those ugly yellow ones but you're more than welcome to shoot it (I mean take pictures) for the calendar. It's nearly 100% stock except for the CF termi cans and clutch cover.

I for one am all for having a calendar with models posing atop our beloved ducs. But what would be really cool and maybe an idea for 2006 would be to have a calendar of DesmoNW members and their bikes. Could have a group photo on the back or last page???

Just some thoughts,

Curt

I think i sent in a pic to leo awhile back but i have an '02 748s with a custom paint job by Russ at Custom Classics. It's flat black with exposed carbon fiber front and rear number plates and red wheels, also full Olins suspention. it's a great looking bike if i might say so. Dave and the DucSea guys know it. I also have a 748 race bike, red w/yellow # plates and some black on the nose and belly and wheels. I can make either of these avalible.

So, is this shoot for just the fast bikes? Or is a slow "touring" bike eligible?

I can even leave the bugs and grime on it, you can still kinda tell the wheels are red.

do we have a date for the shoot, or maybe even a list of the folks that have had their rides selected. And just so we all know, I would still be more than happy to provide mine for the shoot. In case I forgot to mention it, the gold 6 spoke PVM's are finally on and they look amazing.

As of today we have already done 10 of the 12 shots. Each shoot was quite elaborately done and was all closed/semi-closed set. We have two more to go! We almost have all the bike-bases covered, except for the ST. Jeff and I are sweating and bleeding to make this a really classy production worthy of the DesmoNorthwest logo. We hope you guys will like the end result.

So far these bikes had made it.

DarkDuc's 749 Dark, Torben's one-off 749 Dark Custom, Vinoly's Yellow SuperSport, John Cox's Red SuperSport, lll0228's Monster Dark, The Matrix 998, Dave R's 996 Monster, Bong's kneedragging Multistrada, an S4R (stock) and a red custom 998.
