View Full Version : Talk to me about brake pads. How low can you go?

I've never gone this low before. Got spooked and decided to go ahead and change them again before I destroyed my rotars.

Some comparison pictures of thhe new pad, vs. Old pad.

Bought this new set from DucBell. Had to go with OEM Brembo as I loved the way they bite and the feedback they gave.

Bought them last summer but only just now decided to put them on.

I have gotten lower then that but like you said when it gets low and really low it will start to ruin the rotor. heck being in the repair side of things for as long as dirt I have seen much worse, so bad that the pads were non- existent and the steel backing plates were bowed and warped from the pistons clamping down....more than a couple times.. talk about metal sintered pads... :lostmarbles:

What kind of bike are these from? I had ~23,000 on my FJR when I traded it, and they had a heck of a lot more material left on them then these?

(admittedly, only 1 lap on a track though)

Thanks for the input, Dave.

Kurt, F1098S. Lots of track and a bit of street for this specific set.

I might add....I almost never use rear brake.
