DUCATI TO PRODUCE THE HYPERMOTARD

Award winning concept bike will be in showrooms Spring 2007 Bologna, 31 March 2006: After the success of the “concept” presentation in Milan and following the great response from fans, Ducati has decided to begin producing the Ducati Hypermotard. From its first moment in the public eye, last November at the EICMA trade show in Milan, the Ducati Hypermotard has had incredible success. The Ducati Hypermotard received worldwide recognition and was awarded “Best of Show” during its debut at EICMA and “Best Bike for 2005” by the Motorcycle Design Association. The announcement was made by Federico Minoli, President and CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, on the Desmoblog, “With the enthusiasm shown by Ducatisti and the work done in research and development, we have decided to add the Ducati Hypermotard to our production schedule, without giving anything else up. We are also going to reduce the development time thanks to the work done while the bike was still a concept. I am therefore proud to announce that the Hypermotard will be available in a dealership near you in the Spring of 2007.” The Ducati Hypermotard incarnates the strength, the fun and the high performance of an extreme supermotard – re-thought in pure Ducati style: 100 hp weighing just 175 Kg (385 lbs); an idea, a dream for every biker that today will become a reality and will be added to the amazing Ducati line-up. The Ducati Hypermotard will be in dealer showrooms in Spring 2007.

Does anyone know whether this bike will be produced as a monoposto, biposto, or both?

No solid specs or accessory listing yet.. it appears to be a single seater but seeing as there is only a prototype being shown it is hard to say if they will offer it in a two seater version. Ducati said they will start production in Spring of 2007, currently we have 6 deposits !

After checking out pic's of the hypermotard I have one question...

Why can they not figure out how to put an undertail exhaust on a damn monster!!!! The suspension travel required for the 'motard has got to be greater than the duty any Monster will ever see....

Off-topic, sorry guys.

100 horsepower? Wow!

I wonder what they did to squeeze the extra hosepower out of the DS 1000.

Do you think the Monster 1000 will also go to 100 HP?

Yeah, that's one cool looking, well designed bike. I can't wait to see one in person and maybe even take it for a test ride :D .

I'm game. Not much help with a plasma cutter but I'm good with conceptuals.

I've got a plasma cutter, but many a Monster owner before me has tried this before me. I think the answer to the problem is in the frame itself. If a SBK frame tail or a custom frame tail were to replace the monster tail it could be a possibility. Maybe I'll tinker around this summer while I dream of being able to afford the Quat-D underbody exhaust.

What about using the ports left after a tail chop on a monster as support base for an exhaust hanger/attachment? Plus using the existing passenger rear set flange and bolt holes?

Sliding the xx9 series silencers under the seat using a 45mm pipe system? (*daydreaming....)

The problem is the suspension travel. I have two options if I go that route- Hard tail (replace shock with solid tube) or wacky german street fighter (tail rediculously jutting upwards to the sky.)
