View Full Version : Question for SuperSport Riders

I'm new to this board and am wondering if there are any SuperSport riders here. I have a 2002 750SS and am looking to do some modifications for performance and I'm wondering what success others have had. I put a new sprocket on the back (up 2 teeth) to get a little better acceleration. I'm also looking to put an exhaust system on. Has anyone found a good Hi-mount system for a 750? Any input would be appreciated!

Hanan4, welcome!
I had an '03 SS800F and it was a pain to find many mods for it. Just not a very popular model for the aftermarket creators.
You can try the usual suspects for exhaust; my search turned up very little except for stuff from the Ducati Performance line.
Best of luck!

Welcome to the forum Hanan4!

You've come to the right place, especially for tech issues. I've got a 750 but it's not an SS. But I'm sure other's here will post up with recommendations.

Welcome to the board!

I think I saw a set of Remus pipes for the SS for $699 or something like that at MotoStrano.com. Let's see...here. SS pipes (http://www.motostrano-store.com/re90ex.html)

Oh, of course.
Remus comes out with pipes after I sell my bike
That's just great. . . .

There are plenty of upgrades you can do. Lightweight flywheel, big valves, head work, cams, high compression pistons, Power Commander, etc. Or, you could sell your 750 & buy a 900 :)

Go to DucSea or Eastside Motosports & flip through the Ducati Performance catalogues.

Thanks for the tips! I really like the SuperSport series and am thinking of upgrading to either a 900 or 1000. The temptation is also there to just go to a 996/998, but there is something about the SS that is a little more appealing....if I can only get the power up!

A 1000DS would be sweet, wish I could transplant it into my '99 900SS. Hmmm, Dave R- is this possible? :)

I personally prefer the air cooled motors, the feel is a little more raw & emotional...plus they look good when exposed.

Hey just an FYI but the exhaust slip-ons for any of the 1999+ 900ss will work for your bike. Makes finding slip-ons pretty easy as several brands make cans for those bikes. I've got Two Brothers on mine (99 SS) and like them quite a bit, but they are a bit on the loud side. Great tone though.

If you're serious about getting extra power out of the bike, I'd suggest a 900 or 1000 to start with. Then some high comp pistons (or a big bore kit w/ pistons) and one of the biggest things that can be improved upon w/ the 2-valve bikes is apparently the porting. Guy Martin of MBP or BCM performance are a couple reputable places to look for that level of work. Dave R should know if there's anybody around here that does that also. Thats some $$$ though. But there are people getting 95-100hp out of the 900cc engines that way.

I'm definitely w/ Zach on the air cooled motors... I love the simplicity, sound, look, and lack of flaking rockers (for this, look around Duc forums on the desmoquattro's).
