Easy day. Goes something like this. "Honey, the 8 day trip just got extended to a 9 day trip."

Now, the tricky part. Being very very sneaking putting your touring gear away and loading up the track day trailer!

Good luck on that one, let me know how it works out. :happy57: :happy44:

I heard that NESBA doesn't give you a number to attach to your bike but instead you are supposed to bring your own and attach. Is this true?

If so, where do they like the number (on the nose like 2Fast or on the tail) and what are my options when it comes to adhesive numbers (prefer something that can be easily removed)?

Thanks

They let you decide: nose or tail or both, but you must have a number in at least one of the two locations. Blue painters tape works fine... just be sure to pick a number that is easy to "tape." For example "111," or "71," or "717," etc. I learned the hard way by choosing #318.

Blue painters tape is Ghetto! But I do it :happy57:

Just make some nice numbers and place them on the white number plate of your tail. If you want to go fancy dancy you can go to the local shops and pick up precut numbers. They might be a bit more trouble getting off, and they sure do cost more!

Blue painters tape 3 or 4 widths wide

Buy real numbers from the store and stick them to the blue painters tape

End of day, blue painters tape comes off easy with no mess on your bike

No ghetto photos of the 15k Ducati

And for the record, I hate having to sort out a dozen 77's, 11's, 111's, 71's when working on photos, especially by the end of the day when they start falling apart.

I am confused, stick the numbers to the tape? Are you saying there is some kind of double sides blue tape?

You may not want to answer me, as I am one of those 77's!

in a word, yes

you can make a "shield" the night before or even at the track since the beginner group goes out 40 minutes after the start, of blue painters tape to cover an area on your bike. Either shop the night before at a hobby shop or even home depot for mailbox numbers or yes, hit up SB Motorsports for some numbers and then after you attach you blue "shield" stick then numbers on top of the shield. At the end of the day the blue painters tape comes off real easy with the number attached to it and no sticky mess and no photos with bedraggled looking numbers

Wow! What a day!:happy44: Not to mention hot hot hot!

Nice to see and meet so many desmo members today. I am always amazed by the generousity of every member. Jeff was nice enough to provide me with a ride home (thank god!) and Ian and Garrett helped me out with some liquids (shot of gas and gatorade), Kurt provided the MotoGP results via his blackberry and Jeremy provided some shade and a place to sit. It was also great to see John again on his Suzuki. Have a great time in CO on the Monster!

I will make this track day my last....that is the last without a trailer. I look forward to being able to come out prepared and be able to provide help to other less fortunate riders that have no trailer.:) I am so hooked on track days!

Riding in the same class as Ian and Garrett let me know that I have a great deal to learn (those guys are fast). But based on their excitement it seems track days just get better every time as your skills improve.

I also had my suspension adjusted by Barry from GP. I was suprised given my skill level to notice such a difference. Much more confidence inspiring with the new setup. For $40 I am very happy.

Alright I have rambled enough. Time to relax:p

Susan and I rode down to the track this morning to check out the action. It looked like you guys were having a blast out there. We were able to get to the infield and watch the I group from above T6, some you guys rail through there.

It was great to meet some fellow Duc owners. I was surprised at the number of Duc's in the pits, great showing.

Jeremy, it looks like your ready to get that 749 of yours wired and ready for the track. You looked like you were having fun on that machine.

Berry (from GP)can work magic on bike suspensions. He can take my cryptic explanations of what I think the bike is doing, take into account my riding ability (limited) and solve the problem. He's got the Knack.

A few pics at
http://dadfriedrich.googlepages.com/trackdays (The pics are thumbnails, click on them for full size)

We had a good turnout of ducs. Besides our group (in the pics) there was a 1098 in the Adv, and 2-3 more on the next lane behind us. One of which was a 749 that went down in turn 4. Driver seemed perfect, bike not too bad. wsuduc's friend on a Buell was having trouble dragging his pegs, and eventually caught one bad enough to send him down in 4 as well. He seemed perfectly healthy, and Jeremy let him ride his 749s for a turn in the PM.

Good bunch of guys (plus Jeremy's wife who put out some snacks ..thanks!) but it was very hot. My bike said it was 93!

Yes it was an awesome day! :happy44:

It is always great to ride with friends and fellow duc riders! We made a showing. I overheard many people say "What is this Italian Day today" as they walked by Ducati Lane!

I hope we can all get out and ride again!!

I am thinking very hard about calling in an order of Sharkskinz for the bike! I don't think I will ride it much more on the street.

Buellboy was pretty bummed about his low side in T4 (same as situation as Gabe I believe). He had been draggin pegs all day and finally it drug a bit too much.

Yeah, I did notice some photographers out on the track. Looking through turn two I often saw a guy with a pretty fancy camera taking pictures. I was thinking about emailing NESBA, given the photographer probably needed approval from NESBA to take a walk onto the infield.

Hey, how was the Monster in CO?

I was shooting pictures the first NESBA weekend and only needed approval from the folks watching the track to enter / exit and cross the infield. I did get scolded for wearing a yellow jacket which they said could confuse the riders with a yellow flag. Next time I'll wear black or grey.

I had a similar experience at Miller a few weeks ago where the track control personnel allowed me to get onto the track when it was safe and be in a "designated safe zone" for shooting up close.

Bones can probably best answer what additional access an "approved" photog gets vs just an amateur spectator, but I think they're pretty accommodating as long as safety is not compromised.

Bones
06-09-2007, 01:35 PM
Due to issues and liability last year most of the track day groups have closed their doors to photogs going out. It literally was getting too dangerous out there for where people were and even telling them which areas they could be at, there were always people that over stepped the bounds.

NESBA allows people to be in the common WMRRA-type areas to take pics of their buddies still but that is now being looked at again due to people over stepping areas again. The only photog NESBA has given "approval" for though is myself. If I am not mistaken NESBA does have a color shaded track map of where spectators can go.

Thanks for the support you guys have given me this year and please, don't hesitate to ask for particular angles that you may have seen me take at prior events. Videos can help you sometimes, but seeing a variety of different riders coupled with yourself in the same turn can help quite a bit more.

See ya'll at 2-Fast on Wednesday (or any other variety of track day :) )
