Interested in some descriptions or experiences with the 800, I currently ride a VFR and want to join the "club" by getting a Duc...

What year VFR? The feeling on those guys varries quite a bit. I myself am a recent Ducati convert from a 96 VFR 750. The ducs have a lot more lower end and nice smooth power delivery, but the big difference you'll notice is the wieght-the duc is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay lighter. Cornering prowess improves accordingly. The VFR will still get you in a straight line, that water cooled, 4-valve V-4 is built for a higher horsepower output than an 800cc 2-valve twin. If you're looking for engine performance like the VFR, look for a 748 or 749. Better still (at the risk of sounding like a salesman), we've got a used st4s for about the same price as a new ss800 that has the old 996 racebike motor in it and about the same size/seating position of the VFR. Lighter, better supspended and more powerful though.
