Michelin has issued a recall on select PP 2Cts.

According to the Michelin USA, the affected tires have "Made in France" on the sidewall and bare either of the following DOT Nos.

6UCW980T

6UCW979T

You have to call Michelin for recall instructions. Here is Michelin's contact info:

I called the number and spoke to a rep. He states that if you do have the tires in the affected dot number ranges listed above- you will get a replacement front tire and the will pay for the mount and balance of the new tire.

Thanks for the note, I better check which 2CT's I have mounted on the 749.

I like those tires too...

It indicates PP 2CT??? I think it means PP & 2CT.

They call them Pilot Powers 2CT's. http://two-wheels.michelin.com/2w/front/affich.jsp?codeRubrique=2092004103705&lang=EN

Kind of confusing, so I am sure it is the 2CT's

The 2CTs are considered PP as well. But I would check the DOT numbers on my PPs as well just in case...

If I were going to get hybrid tyres, I'd go for the Pirelli Diablo Corsa III. They have more sticky rubber where you need it, and cost only $100 or so more.

So I looked and the 2CT's I bought at the track a week ago are affected. I called Michelin to verify and the rep said that I could take it to any authorized dealer and the tire would be replaced at no cost to me. Have to say I really like these tires they scrubed in quick (read two laps) and stuck like glue on the track.

Just got wind of this and checked out the details online.

The recall is for the 2CT AND the Pilot Power 120/70ZR17 stamped Made in France. So, looks like it's only the front tire that is affected.

Replacement tires are availbale at no cost (including mounting and balancing) through Michelin motorcycle tire retailers.

I knew I didn't like the French for a good reason!

:happy57:

Oui, but they ARE replacing the defective tire with new!

And mine are inlcuded in the recall, so that saves me with having new tires installed after our SR II. :happy44:

I wasn't seeing a manufacture date of affected tires. Are just tires made this spring under the recall? I love those tires! I will get another pair. I had a pair of 208's and they were not for me! (I even own Goodyear/Dunlop stock).

Thanks for the heads up Martys.

Both my fronts were produced in Spain.

The 2CT was new this spring.

Shizza! Wouldn't you know, I have one of the recalled tires!

I have 2 track days on them and they work awesome. I wonder if I can get one more track day out of them and then get the front replaced and throw on a new rear at the same time..

Is that playing with fire?

You did get two free track days............third one could be the charm?

Anyone know the details prompting the recall?

Bit of irony that it's posted the same week as the US Grand Prix
