Woo hoo, man that was A LOT of fun!

Molly sure was hauling ass out there, best sight was her drifting her cart perfectly on one of the more technical turns on the track.

When's the next event?!?!? :happy44:

I wanted to add my thanks to Jeremy, but not Molly, for setting this up (I didn't like getting passed)! It was fun to drive and to watch.

For you taller folks, the cart was pretty painful for a 6 foot person. There is no dead pedal spot for the brake foot, so you have to just hold it in mid air. At 6', your leg gets very cramped. I could hardly walk after the 1st round, as my left calf was bad. I did the 2nd set with my foot over the top, not using the brakes.

Speaking as the sore loser, and heaviest person there, --- there is a pretty strong correlation between weight and lap times. The 2 sharp turns require a major acceleration from ~5 to max twice a lap, and that cart was not up to my extra 60 pounds. I think in horse racing they add bags of sand to get the jockey weights even, but I am guessing no one would be up for that? Maybe I'll just lose 60 pounds?

I have a better idea, next time I'll bring my fancy new 1028x720 HD vid cam and declare myself "official photographer" and avoid the embarassment!

That actually would be neat to try out...then we could add the weights strategically for optimum turning grip! :happy44:

Oh, and next time I want the tire warmers for less slip sliding around...:)

I'd be happy with a cart that isn't broke and dragging on the ground..... oh and about 30-40 less lbs to put me in the category in the same category. Next time, I will for sure bring a little bottle of unmentioned substance that will create slickness to all behind me. I can just see it now, first with some oil, then a bannana peel, then a turtle shell..... we'll have mario kart in real life. We already had folks t-boned and spun out at this last gathering.

i've recently gained about 15 lbs, so, I think my fastest lap time was a 24.04, but had I not weighed 15 more lbs, that would've easily been a 23.9x right in molly territory ;)

I think i'd need liposuction to get into bongs 23.6x range

Last night's gangbang may have done a number on me, too.

My legs still hurt from being so cramped up in the short cart, my arms were sore monday am, but I did the Childen's Run Sunday on the 749. It was brutal leaving Seattle, as, even with the police escort, we were yo-yo'ing back and forth from 20mph to 40, back to 20, etc. It took forever to get just to Issaqua, were some of the sensible Ducati folks split ranks from I90 and we took that 2 lane roads to PR. That part was fun, but up until then, the arms were killing me.

Kurt

(p.s., I also suggest you not let those people gangbang you too, that would help!)

So we've now held events at Champs in Seatte (only Redmond location open now...called K1 Speed I guess), Grand Prix Raceways in Lakewood, and Traxx in Mukilteo.

Links for reference:
http://www.k1speed.com/
http://www.grandprixraceway.com/
http://www.traxxracing.com/

Champs had electric karts, while the other 2 had gas.

Which was everyone's favorite?

Personally I thought Grand prix Raceways was the best. The gas karts were more fun IMO, and their track was on par with Traxx as far as fun factor goes, but their system of tracking time and giving us a FINAL race based on the best lap times for the day was the most fun. Only downside was the location.

That was a mere pay back after being T-boned in the first two laps of the first session, and doing the remaining sessions with a minor fractured rib! I had to stuff my elbow between my side and the bucket seat to brace/restrain my ribs from moving side to side...

Bong
06-26-2007, 09:45 AM
I likes Grandprix in Lakewood the best as far as track layout goes.

Champs and Traxx - I like the fact that they have current lap times shown while you drive the karts. You could tell if you were improving or not while out on the course.

BTW, thanks to DNW for paying part of my costs for the day. That day alone almost paid for my annual dues, let alone the discounts I get from the dealerhips on parts. :)

Payback? I led the entire 1st heat, and never Tboned anyone? Maybe we were playing "pass it on" and I was supposed to get the person that got you? Who was it, I'll look for him/her next time.

For the record, I was ok with it, as I was clearly slower, and probably should have let kamran by, but what fun would that be? On the 3rd set, I let Molly by right away as I knew it would be great fun to see her posting a time better than (almost) all the men!.

Yes it typically is the adrenaline! It is more potent than morphin. I have a pretty high pain threshold...thanks to years of bicycle racing!!! I first thought it was my muscles. So I overdosed on muscle relaxers afterwards, but they didn't do much...I rode my bicycle for 50 miles on Sunday, but could not stand up to pedal (too much pressure on the ribs). Also I did the NESBA track day yesterday too....minor pain issue here and there!!!LOL

I've learned to make friends with pain. Certain kinds of pain (from sports and competition) are good...I call them good pains. They make you feel alive. They also prepare me for when I come face to face with Lucifer...! I can then look him in the eyes and tell him if that's all the heat he can take??? LOL:evilgrin3 :evilgrin3 :evilgrin3 I just have to refrain from sleeping on my left side.:indiffere

But in all seriousness, it's all good. I had a great time and look forward to more cracked ribs!!! It's part of the game...accidents happen. As long as I am having loads of fun, I don't mind it a bit!

I'm just kidding with payback...It wouldn't be fun without bumping each other out...to strategize where you put your oponent into the wall, that's all it is about!!! It'd be extermely boring if we all just followed each other around.

I had a blast being T-boned, and even more fun pushing everyone out of my way on the last heat!!!

p.s. he/she has already paid the price.....on the second heat; I made sure of that!!!:evilgrin3

No need to feel bad asbout it. That was the best thing that happened to me all week...(to be bumped into by a female type individual!)...:)

Accidents on go-karts "are" part of the deal...it wouldn't be fun without them. Otherwise I would have satyed on the couch...:cool2:
