Predictions:

More wet clutches, higher cc's all around.

Newly designed Monster.

No more SS, ST lines.

S2R800 -> 8?? A bump is in orderI bet they do away with this model; only has a few HP more than the M695.

Wish(es):

Dunno, how about the Hyper in black?

How about an integrated coffee cup holder/ash tray/8-track for the 1098/848 series?

How about adding a 1956 Marianna (but with a twin) to the sport classic line?

I hope there are no changes to the Hypermotard that'll make me wish I waited another year... Black plastic would be pretty mincy though :)

Too bad the ST's will be gone. I liked the desmo-tre engine. What are they going to do with it?

Aloha

Just remember, being hard and fast doesn't mean you are having fun. Sometimes slow and steady is best. It's all in how you use it. :happy57:

I wish they would continue the development of the SS's. I really like the 2 valve engine in a full-faired sportbike. :(

I'm certainly not saying that they aren't worth buying- I loved the hell out of my 620. It just seems Ducati is focusing on their higher displacement models these days... The 620 was dropped from the MTS lineup, the 800SS is more than likely going to be dropped, and none of the new models have anything lower than a 1000. Is the S2R 800 sticking around? It just doesn't seem economical to make too many different engines when you are a relatively low volume manufacturer.

It just doesn't seem economical to make too many different engines when you are a relatively low volume manufacturer. It would make most sense to drop the S2R800. With only 4 horses more than the M695 (77hp @ 8250 rpm v. 73hp 8500rpm) and less than 20% more torque (72.6 Nm @ 6500 rpm v. 61 Nm @ 6750rpm) it seems to me that the S2R800 is not so much a whole step but a "half step" to the S2R1000 (95hp @ 8000 rpm 94.1 @ 6000 rpm).

Greetings fellow Ducatisi..... New to the site. I HAD a 1098S that I had to sell back to the insurance co. after a ahhhhhhh.... close encounter with a couple of deer. VERY lucky not to have been injured, but destroyed my Italian mistress in the red dress:( Anyways, I had over 4K on it, almost through my second set of tires, and played with it at PIR @ the DNW MotoCorsa track day. I've got a new 08' S coming next Monday the 8th, so I'll let you know if they remapped the little hiccup at lowspeed etc. I doubt whether they changed much, probably just trying to meet demand. Ta ta
