I'm considering added some sort of protection to the sides of the tank on my MTS to protect the paint and finish. Does anyone out there have any first hand experience with either Tankslapper or TechSpec tank protectors? I've read the one product review for Tankslapper on the DML site. Not sure if I want to use a protector that changes from the appearance of the bike. Any other good or bad recommendations? Thanks.

I've got the basic tankslapper, because I wanted to be able to remove it easily if needed. You visually can't really tell it's there. Gives a bit of grip for the knees and has kept the scuffs off the tank. Plus at only $16 bucks, how could you say no?

Rich,

You can just but MacTac clear decal protector. I believe it's what local law enforcement uses on their BMW's. I've used it on my KTM air box and it holds up well. Install and remove like decals. You need to make your own templates but with heavy craft paper its pretty easy.

I have the Tech-Spec Gripster Sport on my 999 in Snakeskin. It's done what I'd expected it to do. No more sliding forward under hard braking and it held my knee well at last years track-days when cornering hard. Also hasn't come loose anywhere along the edges.

I use Tankslapper. It works really well for me. It is virtually invisible and does a nice job of protecting the paint.
