Yesterday I was riding to school on I-405 south around 9am-ish near Kirkland. Another yellow XX8 was headed northbound and gave me the wave. 2 yellow Ducs and both in black leather, man we're cool. :D

Today on my way to school I saw a blue Monster S4R headed south on I-405 too. I was in the rover stuck in staffic, this was around 9:15 around Kirkland as well. Anyone here? Might be interested in keeping you company this summer during the morning commute.

On my way home, a yellow Monster pulled up next to me on I-5 heading north. It had the small windscreen in the front, saddles bags on back, and a Ducati Seattle license plate frame. Kinda petite frame so I figured it was a female but I could be wrong. Exited Mountlake Terrace/Lynnwood and took a left at the light.

It just sucks that I never get to meet anyone while I'm actually on my bike. :(

I was walking south on 4th Ave. in Seattle yesterday (6/10) around noon when I heard a motorcycle coming at me northbound. From the beautiful sound, I thought, "It's gotta be DUC". Sure enough, a silver Monster came shooting past me.

Me: 2004 749D

You:
A Yellow 748 with an evoluzione.net and Ducati Performance die cut decals was parked next to me when I went in the garage to get my bike after work today! Cool! That's the second time you've been there. Nice bike.

While headed home I passed a Yellow 998 headed southbound I-5 around 5:10 and not 15 minutes later I came up beside a black Monster with a Corse decal on the side of the tank. I looked over my shoulder and waved but you were pokey so I left you behind. :D

Today (Wednesday, 6/16), Monster Dark parking at 4th & Jackson in Seattle's Chinatown about 1:30 pm. Male rider with a black Shoei helmet. For a "minority brand", there are a lot of DUCs in the Seattle are. Does anyone know how this area compares to other parts of the USA in DUC sales, either in absolute numbers or % of motorcycles sold?

Sorry I didnt say hi but the girlfriend I was with siad I couldn't come talk to you :(. She no get the Ducati thing ha ha. In fact she said I manage to turn every conversation into something about motorcycles. Go figure :P. She must be jealous of my beautiful Italian lady.

999 in Seattle parking garage on Cherry St. Today (Thursday 9/17) at 9:00
The 999 was red with carbon pipes and carbon front ferring. Who's is it?

I pulled in a 999 and it was weird to see another one already sitting there. Parking them side-by-side was a beautiful thing.

Yesterday about 6:00pm I was waiting to turn into Forest Park in Everett when a yellow Superbike met me headed the other way toward Everett. I thought it was Curt form Mukilteo but he says no. I was on my BBG ST4s with Ducati Designs headlights and a yellow/grey AWACS rear trunk.

Anyway, he has checked out the forums and we'll probably see him tomorrow at Dyno Day!

Sunday about 5:30 Highway 522 to I405 southbound.

Passed me on the overpass.

1. You need to hang off the bike, you're about to bin it if you don't.
2. If your going to ride like that, do it on a track.

This "extremely talented" rider blew by me mid turn, followed by two of his pals.....really bright guys, really bright.

Oh, and nice multi lane changes while cutting people off and weaving through traffic.

For a second I thought I was watching some STR squids. :(

I've seen that guy before on I-405. He blew past me during morning traffic thinking it was the Isle of Eastside or something. Reminded of that rap song by Jermane Dupree (sp?) "100mph switch'n 4 lanes, cruising witht he top down singing money ain't a thang".

Yes, Cindesmo.... there are two identical blue S4's. At least I think so. One seems to be very fast. Mine is very slow. I let "Swervus" ride the other one so the top three gears don't get brittle from non-use. Age hardening, if you will.

Wonder how it would look in "Roulette Green"?

I just met Sarah (Squidely) who works at the Rendevous off a 2nd and Bell so those of you that haven't been there need to ck. it out it's pretty cool, they got bands and comedy clubs and what-not... And of course Sarah pumping out the drinks like nobodies fool, she's a great/fast bartender and kept me full while telling me what she knew about the forum and the people on it. Only really mentioned Mikimoto (one cool cat) and I think Shawn from Ducati South... hope to meet everybody one day. Just for the record I was walkin from Rendovous to home as I hope most people are that are drinkin. Peace outside.

New boy to this board (Dark_Destroyer on Ducatimonster.org). Hello!

Was riding along East Mercer (Mercer Island) on Saturday early afternoon and saw two monsters heading south on the same road - gave me a bigwave, and I waved back - anyone from here? That is my daily ride - corner after corner!

I was on a Monster Dark in a retro Mechanica jacket.

Hey - I think we met on a ride long ago when I was still cutting my teeth on the bike.

Do you hit Mercer often? Taking East Mercer every morning to work and every evening on the way home has taught me a bunch at pretty safe speeds. Hit me up if you guys are going that way again :)

I ride E Mercer every once in a while. My folks live on the island, so its a nice diversion for me when headed to or from their place.

I usually turn around before W Mercer, though. W Mercer isn't nearly as much fun, and I've gotten a ticket there before (&#@!*&#@!*).

UKDuc

Yes, West Mercer is sometimes dogged by the fuzz. I have seen them there, but have been lucky - stuck behind people carriers. But it is a nice road too - slightly more open bends.

North Mercer is the section of Mercer Way I try to avoid. Folks coming out of the Roanoke Tav after a few beers don't always respect the center line. M.I.'s finest tend to patrol pretty heavily up there for that very reason.

I tore across 2 lanes on the freeway and passed a Bandito biker on his Harley the other day on my way home from work. I looked in the mirror and he was staying up with me so I thought maybe I pissed him off. Great, that's all I need, an angry Bandito after me. Traffic got all backed up near shoreline and he pulled up beside me and lifed his Nolan. He smiles this huge grin and says, "Nice paint! I really like the black. I have a 916 in the garage at home." Sweet. :evilgrin3

Who's chrome Monster was that I passed on Mt Rainier last Tues? It was off the side of the road with a couple o other bikes that might have been Ducati's, all I could see was the shiny object.

Are they ever going to repave the roads in that park? I think they hired on a group of sixth graders to do the patch job.

I buzzed downtown with him in the morning traffic. I felt like one of those little pilot fish attached to a shark or something, following him through traffic. Under the ship canal bridge (express lanes) we split off, waved and hit a buck on the speedo just for good measure. :)

On a more negative note...Thanks to the guy on the blue/white Monster S4R who cut me off on I5 North. You: jeans, old school red, white, and blue Arai helmet. Me: huge blue dodge dakota complete with Duc Sea sticker. After watching you tailgate the car in front of you all the way down the onramp, and out onto the freeway I was shaking my head. Then as I was proceeding to pass you on the left you jumped into my lane going below the speed of surrounding traffic. Must not have seen me??? Nice riding dude. All of us continually rag on the cagers(me included), but we also need to pay attention to how we are riding. Ride safe everyone and keep those eyes open!!!!

Yes, Mike is easy to pick out, even off his bike. He can usually be seen sporting something Dianese has yet to discover: Competition-weight denim cut-offs and stylish tennis shoes. He's a great guy, but he wears funny riding clothes. No doubt a hold-over from when he was riding his Honda ST1100 delivery bike.

It is? There are so many little numbers on my speedometer that I can't see from my riding position that I figured to go slightly slower than traffic will keep me out of trouble. Besides, it saves wear and tear on the other four gears. Or is it five? Oh, and I might add that if you're riding a cool bike, riding slower makes it easier for others to look at you in admiration and awe.

Doesn't it?

You can get the specs for your bike in your manual. Har Har.

I do not reside on the Eastside, much less Plateaupia. Where I come from the objective is to have fun riding, not pose for the general public. Plus I think it is safer to ride faster than drivers. If they are gawking at me while I ride next to them, they will probably swerve into me. Anyhow, I am told that you can hear my bike before you see it (nice compliment!) so others have plenty of warning that something cool is coming their way! :happy57:

What manual? I do have fun riding. With my gear on, no one can tell I'm older than your parents so it's important to me to pose and let others stare in envy. Indulge me: I'm having fun and need to get this out of my system before I move. There aren't a lot of Ducati riders in Panorama City I suspect. At least, on my former bike, which you and your companions at - as Nahtan refers to it - The Motherland, wrestled away from me, I could pass for Tom Cruise. Well, except for the stunt riding in MI-2 and all that stuff.

And, as you know, you are always welcome to visit us in Plateaupia. You may actually like it out here. Be sure and bring your golden retriever or your labrador and make sure to wear your Land's End "squall" jacket. If you insist on driving that truck, just tell the guard at the gate you're my gardener. Okay, you know I'm just giving you a hard time. You deserve it.

Actually, my parents are older than you! They don't ride bikes (or condone it for that matter) though.

I drove the truck in Kirkland today and everyone pretended not to notice.

I have a spare S4 manual. It will inform you that your bike has six speeds.

Kirkland is much like Plateaupia, only classier and with more old money - and a larger lake. No Rottweilers though. The locals probably assumed you were a commercial vehicle delivering Krispy Kremes or Saab parts.

Six Speeds? Really? I owe Nathan an apology. I thought he was kidding. Tell me, where are speeds 4,5, and 6? Funny, but now that I found that manual you mentioned, it says something about "Low Fuel". I suppose that's the same as telling me it's time to trade it in. Got anything down there in yellow that might make me look cooler than "Danger Boy"?

Speaking of finding the manual, how do I get the seat back on? The low-side goes closest to the tank, right? Oh, did you know my bike has a clock? That must be an option, right?

Think I've seen him riding yellow Ducatis before, but he looked so satisfied with himself on the E-L I can't be sure. Kind of gave me the impression he might be an accountant. Maybe a test pilot or something. Friend of Nathan's maybe?

No beard or tattoos that I could discern. Lots of leather though. Maybe from Wilson's on the mall? Saw two elderly women swoon as he posed at the stoplight. This guy was "stylin'" Nice bike. I'm hoping to get something like that myself as I get older.

It makes me sad when I see Ducati's in disrepair.

There is a black monster I walk by on the way to school every day that is in very poor shape. Rusty chain, filthy paint, dings, distasteful mods (eg huge cruiser windshield, etc.)...

Every once in awhile I mention to someone that I own a monster, and they often say-- 'oh, is it that black one parked up on **** street?'

Then I have to tell them mine is kinda similar to it... Its making me look bad!

I don't want to gripe, but what I haven't been seeing on the lovely sunny days I've been riding into work is the wave. I've only been riding since I got my duc a year ago, so I definitely don't have the history to comment. But does the courtesy wave go into hibernation during winter?

Burninator

Hmmmm, that's interesting Scott.

If we were in San Francisco, where I'm originally from, I'd agree with you. People just don't like to wave there, it seems.

However, up here, I can't remember a single time when I haven't gotten a wave. If anything, winter should bring out the wave even more, as tougher riding calls for more comradery.

Sometimes people wave by simply lifting their hand a little bit but since they are wearing all black gear it is very hard to see. When I ride the motard on Hwy 99 I wave like I am in a parade and typically everyone ignores me (ha ha).

Torben
03-04-2005, 12:40 PM

I always wave and usually the favor is returned. Those who don't do tend to be the shiny new Harleys. I just assumed they were too tense to lift the left hand off the bar and probably did me a favor by holding it to :happy57: gether long enough to let me get by.

I find most other riders do wave, but not always first. I was out yesterday and saw quite a few bikes and my unscientific observation is that Harley riders will usually wave, but it seemed that the few that didn't appeared to be women riders or else very young riders. The low-rider and "chopper" riders will usually wave unless they have ape-hanger bars in which case they would probably tip over.

Sport bike riders will almost always wave, unless they happen to be nearing the apex of a really fast corner, at which point they tend to nod.

Unlike Nathan, my son-in-law, I do not get a feeling of rejection if someone chooses not to greet me. At least I'll give him credit; he has learned how to wave in a proper fashion now. On his first bike - a Suzuki GS500 - He'd wave as if he was trying to flag down the fire department and would nearly blow himself off the back of his bike. Great fun to watch.... ;)

Two-Push, I know you are being funny but I don't think having more Ducatis leads to lower resale value. Areas in the nation that have strong dealer presence and lots of Ducatis tend to have higher resale value. People are less afraid to buy something that they see other people out riding and know that there are dealers around to service and supply parts!

This morning it did not appear that anyone waved back at me, but it's too hard to really stare at them while riding in heavy traffic.
